Chi McClean Wins April ’09 West Coast Songwriters Competition
On Wednesday evening, April 29th, Chi McClean competed in the West Coast Songwriters “San Francisco Songwriters Competition” against 15 top-notch, Bay Area songsmiths at Cafe Royale and took home the prize of “Best Song” for his performance of “Truck” from Chi’s debut release Something Out There. The final decision came down to a play-off pairing Chi against singer-songwriter Michael McNevin from Fremont, CA. Judged by Kelly Ransford (Music Director of KFOG 104.5 FM) and Michael Winger (San Francisco Producer, Engineer, Recording Artist), this contest awarded three hours of recording time to Chi at a prominent local studio and, more importantly, an opportunity to play in front of an industry panel at the annual West Coast Songwriters conference in September, 2009 as part of the West Coast Songwriters year-end Songwriters Competition Finals.
