Lauten Audio Microphone Demo
I just got home a little while ago after helping out Matt Boudreau from Broken Radio Studios as he set things up for the Lauten Audio Mic Demo tomorrow night, Wednesday, November 18th at Broken Radio Studios in San Francisco. Matt and the folks from Lauten Audio will be recording with and demo’ing the full line of Lauten Audio mics with me as their musical push button horse, so to speak. I’m pretty psyched because it’s another excuse to play in one of the coolest live rooms around and it’s a great opportunity to learn a little something about mic and recording techniques while meeting some new folks.
To be honest, the mics during the setup tonight sounded amazing. We tested out all four models from Lauten Audio tonight on a variety of things in preparation for tomorrow’s event: my Taylor 814ce, my B&J Serenader archtop through a Mesa Boogie tube amp, and my voice. It’s pretty cool to hear how many different sounds you can capture with these mics and the variety of settings available on them. Now, I’m not really a tech-oriented guy (I just sit down and do my thing), but I do know what I like and I’ve already picked out my favorites. Right now, I’m sold on the Oceanus after just one vocal take. What’s more, pretty much everything else in the line sounded phenomenal on the guitars, both electric and acoustic. Which one is your favorite? If you’re interested in checking out the mic demo tomorrow night to find out, click on over to http://lautenaudio.blogspot.com/ to learn more. It’s going to be a cool evening in a historic, San Francisco recording studio and I guarantee that you’ll love what you’ll hear from these mics. See ya there!
“Lauten Audio microphones continue to carve out a niche for recordists seeking microphones with an original, sound-empowering passion. The company added to their award-winning Horizon tube microphone in October 2008 and began shipping three new studio microphones. Their Oceanus and Torch microphones were recently added to the “Best of” list of upper-class microphones by the Germany-based Professional Audio Musik & Equipment magazine. All of Lauten Audio’s microphones have garnered exceptional reviews from both end-users and magazines around the world.” Read more about Lauten Audio mic’s on their website at www.lautenaudio.com.

Agreed. Your voice sounded the best on the Oceanus. Its a bit of a beast though with 2 tubes and weighing in at 6 lbs. I’d like to give the Lauten Horizon microphone a test drive.

Thanks, dude… I liked the Oceanus a lot, but I have a Horizon which is really friggin’ cool and is pretty darned versatile. I use it in my home studio for vocals, my acoustic guitar, my keyboard, my amp, percussion… everything. It has an adjustable pad, which is pretty cool for different source level signals/volumes, and it sounds great all the way around. A really good workhorse… If I get another one, it will definitely be an Oceanus for sure.
